Deb
Cartwright

Welcome to the PMT-Racing website, online home of Deb Cartwright who has gained THIRD place in her Rookie year racing an RVF400. There are profiles of Debs and her Bike, an explanation of the championship she is racing in, her results, pictures of some of those races, and details of her sponsors and the team behind the name.

Her love of biking started on a family holiday to Cornwall. There was a small oval track where Puch twist and go kid's bikes could be hired. Deb spent every bit of pocket money on riding these bikes throughout the 2 week holiday and spent the next few months, after the family returned home, pestering her dad to get her one, until he relented and bought her a Yamaha TY80. As soon as she was 16, Saturday money bought her a DT50 for the road and 18 months later, she passed her test on her much loved Honda NSR125. She now rides, on the road, the bike she always dreamed of having: a '94 fox-eye Fireblade.

Debs did a few trackdays on the Fireblade and was addicted. After crashing it twice, she took advice and bought a dedicated track bike, a Honda VFR400 NC30. She spent the rest of the year doing as many trackdays as she could afford. Although her trackdays fulfilled her need for excessive speeds, she was missing competitive sports.

Her competitive nature blossomed whilst at school, playing in all school sports teams and studying karate gaining her 1st Dan at 13 and competing in national level competitions. This continued when she joined the army, taking part in just about any sport available including basketball, football, triathalon, athletics, skiing, but most enjoyable: boxing! Takingup full time training for the twilight of her years in the army competing un amateur bouts.

Deb left a successful 6 year career as a military radio operator to become a radio planning engineer and is currently working for a brand new technology mobile telecommunications provider.

High Points of Last Season

Getting 2nd place at Cadwell on my new, bog-standard, much loved RVF. I took it out to compare with my race bike during practise and ended up racing it, head lights and all! The only thing it had that wasn't standard was a different end-can.

Low Points of Last Season

The Mudguard half falling off during the 1st race at Brands GP circuit whilst running 3rd causing a DNF, resulting in a back row start for race 2.

Aims for This Season

Top 5 championship finish in the SS400 nationwide championship. She also wants to compete in the MRO SS400, which is considered to the British Championship for 400's. She has no high expectations in this championship, it being only her second year of racing. It will however give her the experience needed to keep moving up the ranks. Competing in the MRO will very much depend on funding which will need to be raised through sponsorship.
