Why is it awkward to think about our parents
having sex?
Q from a male, first year from (unknown/not
identified) university wants to know....Why is
it awkward to think about our parents having
sex?
Dr. Caron's Answer: We grow up slowly and
for most of our early years that is not our
perception of who are parents are. When we grow up,
it is unfamiliar because we have not seen them in
that light. We were naïve and unaware. It is
hard to imagine them as anything but parents. I
think it is wonderful that our parents can be
loving and caring and get excited about each other
to still be sexually active and express
their love in that way.
