Top 10 Celebrity Dads

There's nothing better than having a talented dad, but when he brings with him a multitude of adoring fans and millions of dollars, how can a kid go wrong? No matter how tough dad is on-stage or on the big screen, all bets are off when it comes to playing dad to his little guys and girls. From athletes to action stars, we pay tribute to 10 of our favorite celebrity fathers.

10. Gavin Rossdale - Dad to Kingston, 3, Zuma, 10 months

Despite the fact that Gavin Rossdale takes both of his children, as well as wife, Gwen Stefani, on the road when he tours, he has yet to win over Kingston with his musical stylings. "At the moment he just wants to march around the house to the song from The Jungle Book," says Rossdale. "We do that about 17 times a day." The rocker dad is holding onto hope, however: "I want my sons to see me play and do shows and think: 'That's wicked.'"

9. Matthew McConaughey - Dad to Levi, 1

Like father like son! After a trip to a petting zoo, Matthew McConaughey is certain that Levi is a ladies' man-in-training. "He was looking at camels and monkeys and chickens and emus for the first five seconds, and then he just reached over to the girl next to him and started petting her," Matthew recalls. "He didn't give a damn about the animals. He was flirting with the girl next to him!"

8. Seal - Dad to Henry, 3, Johan, 2; Step-dad to Helene (aka Leni), 5

The soulful singer can effortlessly belt out song after song, but when it comes to fatherhood he is well aware that there are no re-dos. "You don't get a second chance to be a dad," he has said. "There's no rehearsal, and it's your most important gig." Luckily for Seal, he gets help from wife, Heidi Klum. "You pick up the slack. When somebody isn't able to do something, you don't wait to be asked."

7. Johnny Depp - Dad to Lily-Rose, 10, Jack, 7

Who would have thought that some parents actually try not to embarrass their children? Johnny Depp remembers reaching a point in his career where he swore he would only work on films that wouldn't lead his kids to see him as a sellout. ("I don't want them to be mortified or embarrassed.") Even with a hugely successful film career, the 46-year-old actor knows exactly where his priorities lie. "I would give away everything if I could only keep my family," he has said.

6. Patrick Dempsey - Dad to Tallulah, 7, Darby and Sullivan, 2

While his twins may be in the midst of the "terrible twos," Patrick Dempsey knows he is in for the long haul. "The first year is really hard. Come to think of it, the first 18 years are extremely difficult," he has joked. The Grey's Anatomy doc, who enjoys spending his free time behind the wheel of a race car, can't wait to introduce his sons to driving. "You can get those little go carts," he says, but there'll be "no pressure" for them to race like dad.

5. Ben Affleck - Dad to to Violet, 3, Seraphina, 6 months

Ben Affleck proves that dads are the best teachers -- even if the lessons are inappropriate. While on a daddy/daughter date at a restaurant with Violet, Ben says he almost blurted out the "s-word" when she spilled water everywhere but caught himself and ended up yelping, "sheisse," the German version of the word instead. The end result? Let's just say Violet, who is in her repeating stage, would now most likely be banned from German TV.

4. David Beckham - Dad to Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, 6, Cruz, 4

Whether they are sitting courtside at L.A. Lakers games or in the stands cheering on their dad, the Beckham boys seem to know the meaning of their father's love. David even has all of their names tattooed on his back! The soccer star has admitted to having cried while watching his sons play soccer. "That's just the way I am," he said. "I'm passionate about my job, but I'm more passionate about my children -- the kids are the bosses." We're sure he means the kids and Victoria.

3. Hugh Jackman - Dad to Oscar, 9, Ava, 3

Every parent dreads the birds and the bees talk, right? Not Hugh Jackman! "It's not awkward," he says. "My Dad never ever did it with me so I was very adamant that I was going to do it with my son." His advice to winning over the ladies? "You just have to respect girls," he told his son, Oscar. "I try to tell him that he cannot use me to get to them, though," he joked. As for finding time to maintain his buff physique, the hands-on dad says, "No amount of gym work readies you for carrying the dead weight of a child who's asleep for an hour through the park."

2. Brad Pitt - Dad to Maddox, 7, Pax, 5, Zahara, 4, Shiloh, 2, Knox and Vivienne, 1

While Brad Pitt took the fast track to fatherhood (he adopted 3 out of his 6 children with Angelina Jolie), he has certainly made up for lost time. In an interview with Oprah, he called his kids the "funniest people," but admits he can only handle being alone with four of them at a time. He quipped that Shiloh, who is a Peter Pan fanatic, will only respond to the names John and Peter, and Pax has rebelled against a timeout session by peeing on the timeout chair. Forget an Academy Award! Papa Pitt looks for accolades of a different kind. "If I can get a burp out of the baby, I feel such a sense of accomplishment!"

1. Will Smith - Dad to Trey, 16, Jaden, 10, Willow, 8

From acting and rapping to directing, Will Smith does it all -- and always brings the kids along for the ride. While oldest son, Trey, was the inspiration for Will's song "Just the Two of Us" and also the star of the video, Willow and Jaden appeared alongside their dad in I Am Legend and The Pursuit of Happyness, respectively. But look out for some friendly family competition. In 2008, It just so happened that Willow's movie, Kit Kittredge: An American Girl came out the same day as Will's Hancock, and he joked, "Daddy loves you, sweetie, but I've got to stomp you at the box office." Of his children, who have gone on to star in their own movies, he says. "Jaden is like Johnny Depp -- he just wants to do good work ... He loves acting, he just wants to make good movies. And Willow is Paris Hilton. Willow wants to be on TV."
