Comparing Housing Costs
Not surprisingly, Manhattan topped the list in our analysis of
monthly costs paid by homeowners. The median amount spent each month
by New Yorkers in owner-ocuppied housing was $3,615. San Francisco
Bay Area counties held positions 3-5. The top five counties, ranked
by highest monthly costs. Median monthly costs compiled by the bureau
include mortgage payments, taxes, property insurance, utilities and,
where appropriate, condo fees.
