Introduction
Menstuff® looks at what The National Men's Resource Center was
all about.
The National Men's Resource Center believed that positive change
in male roles and relationships is possible. They had been working
since 1982 to end men's isolation: It became too much work with too
little support so we closed the 501(c)3 on December 31, 2015 as well
as most of the web sites.
- They maintain several web sites:
www.pcaw.org
(Prostate cancer awareness week)
Closed
www.tcaw.org
(Testicular cancer awareness week) Closed
and
www.menatrisk.org
(Closed)
- They assisted local groups to develop local resource hotlines
and calendars
- They supported the development of Men's Studies programs on
college campuses
- They assisted bookstores and libraries to develop separate
Men's Studies sections
- They provided non-hazing programs for fraternities
They promoted:
- Conflict resolution and self-esteem building
- Appropriate emotional release
- Cooperation with women's communities
They created national visibility regarding several hundred
men's issues:
- They offered resource information on these issues to
individuals
- They refered broadcast and print media to resources to
encourage well-rounded coverage
- They offered a Volunteer Speaker's Bureau to speak on these
issues
- They had an information
booth available for health fairs and activities around
boys and men's health.
- They provided referral on books, publications, research,
conferences and events, films and videos, organizations, groups,
services and cultural events
They invited individuals and organizations to contribute pertinent
information, resources, contacts, speakers, references and links.
