In 1996, Renshaw attended the Legends Driving School in Charlotte, North Carolina followed up in 1998 by attending the FastTrack High Performance Driving School at both Atlanta Motor Speedway and Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte.

Renshaw made 27 starts throughout the season accumulating three top-ten finishes, six top-15 finishes and one pole position which included setting the track record at Riverview Speedway.
